Interview questions worth rehearsing

With the thing the interviewer is actually listening for

How do you stay accurate and friendly on your fortieth call of the day?

Acknowledge the grind honestly, then give your reset habits: notes templates, a consistent greeting, and treating each caller as the first.

A caller is shouting before you finish your greeting. What do you do?

Describe letting them finish, keeping your tone level, acknowledging the problem, and moving to concrete steps. Mention your center's escalation point.

How do you handle performance metrics like handle time and QA scores?

Show that you understand the metrics as tools: where you have improved a number, and how you avoid gaming metrics at the customer's expense.

Tell me about following a script while still sounding human.

Explain treating the script as required content, not a monologue: hitting compliance points while matching the caller's pace and language.

What is your attendance and schedule flexibility like?

Answer plainly; adherence and reliability are core to the job. Mention any experience with shift bids, split shifts, or weekend coverage.

Have you done outbound or sales-adjacent calling? How do you handle rejection?

If yes, share numbers such as conversion or contacts per hour. Either way, show that a no does not carry into the next call.

Resume tips that move the needle

For call center agents specifically — generic advice costs you here

01

Lead with your numbers: calls per day, average handle time, QA scores, adherence, or sales conversion where applicable.

02

Name the systems you have worked in, such as Five9, Genesys, NICE, or Avaya, plus the CRMs behind them.

03

State the type of work explicitly: inbound support, outbound sales, collections, or blended, since centers hire for fit.

04

Include attendance and tenure signals; a full year at one center with strong adherence is a real differentiator.

05

Mention remote work readiness if relevant: quiet workspace, wired internet, and prior work-from-home call experience.
