Stay calm, search alternate spellings and channels, and get them a room or a solution before assigning blame. The guest's night matters more than the cause.

How do you handle an angry guest complaining about their room?

Listen fully, apologize once sincerely, and offer a concrete fix like a move or amenity. Describe staying warm while working the system.

What property management systems have you used?

Name them, such as Opera, Fosse, or OnQ. If the hotel uses another, note that you have learned a PMS quickly before.

How do you approach upselling upgrades at check-in?

Describe reading the guest and offering relevant value, like a quiet high floor for a business traveler, rather than reciting a script.

Walk me through your end-of-shift balancing routine.

Cover counting the drawer, reconciling payments against the PMS, and passing a clean log to the next shift. Accuracy and handoff discipline.

Can you work overnight audit shifts or rotating weekends?

Hotels never close, so answer honestly. Night audit willingness in particular can fast-track hiring and promotion.
