Interview questions worth rehearsing

With the thing the interviewer is actually listening for

Tell me about a product you shipped from idea to launch.

Walk through the problem, how you validated it, the tradeoffs you made, and the outcome. Anchor the story in a metric that changed.

How do you prioritize a backlog when everything feels urgent?

Name a concrete framework such as RICE or cost of delay, then explain how you weigh evidence over opinion. Mention how you communicate what gets cut.

How would you improve one of our products?

Show that you researched the product beforehand. Identify a user segment, a friction point, and a small testable change rather than a grand redesign.

Describe a time you disagreed with engineering on scope.

Show respect for technical constraints and explain how you found a smaller version of the idea that still tested the hypothesis.

What metrics would you track for a new feature?

Distinguish adoption, engagement, and business outcome metrics, and name one guardrail metric you would watch for regressions.

How do you know when a product idea is worth building?

Talk about cheap validation first: interviews, prototypes, or data from existing behavior. Emphasize evidence before commitment.

Tell me about a launch that did not go well.

Pick a real miss, explain what signal you overweighted or ignored, and describe what you changed in your process afterward.
