Describe asking permission, explaining each step, covering areas not being washed, and letting the client do what they can themselves.
What would you do if you arrived and your client seemed confused or unwell?
Show the reporting chain: stay with the client, check for immediate danger, and call the nurse or agency right away. Never diagnose or wait it out.
Tell me about a difficult client and how you built trust.
Pick a story about consistency and small kindnesses over weeks, not a single breakthrough. Patience is the trait being tested.
How do you handle a client who refuses care that day?
Respect the refusal, try again gently later, offer choices, and document and report it. Forcing care is the wrong answer.
What does reliability mean in this job, and what is your attendance record like?
Be direct: clients depend on you arriving. Give your actual record and how you handle transportation or scheduling conflicts in advance.
Are you comfortable with transfers, lifts, and mobility equipment?
Name what you have used, such as gait belts or Hoyer lifts, and mention proper body mechanics. Honesty about training gaps is fine.
