Interview questions worth rehearsing
With the thing the interviewer is actually listening for
A site's organic traffic dropped 30 percent last month. How do you investigate?
Show an ordered diagnosis: tracking issues, algorithm updates, indexation problems, lost pages or links, and seasonality.
How do you prioritize SEO work when everything seems important?
Talk about impact-versus-effort ranking, fixing crawl and indexation blockers first, and aligning with pages that drive revenue.
Walk me through your keyword research process.
Go beyond volume: search intent, difficulty, business value, and mapping keywords to existing or planned pages.
How has AI-driven search changed your approach?
Acknowledge the shift honestly, and discuss focusing on topics where clicks still happen, brand queries, and being cited by AI answers.
Tell me about a technical SEO issue you found and fixed.
A concrete story, such as a crawl budget or canonical problem, with the traffic result shows real hands-on depth.
How do you earn buy-in from engineers for SEO fixes?
Explain writing clear tickets with expected impact, sizing requests realistically, and building credibility with early wins.

04
